Part Time on Call TSRA / Inspection and Survey (INSURV) Support Technician for HME Support (San Diego)

Currently we are searching for a TSRA / Inspection and Survey (INSURV) support technician for a Part Time On Call (PTOC) position based in San Diego with travel to Hawaii and Japan. The Technician will be responsible for assessing the operational capability of the variety of shipboard HM&E systems associated with FDNF based U.S. Navy ships and recommending corrective actions and assisting with the correction of identified discrepancies. Additional responsibilities include performing assigned duties onboard ships during scheduled assessments and inspections under the supervision of SWRMC TSRA and INSURV Assessment Coordinators during TSRA, INSURV events.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum 8 + years related experience
  • S. Citizenship and ability to obtain / maintain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance
  • Ability to troubleshoot and assess various pieces of U.S. Navy Combat and Communications equipment
  • Ability to communicate well with superiors and peers
  • Ability to read technical manuals and repair standards
  • Ability to work well on their own with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency with related computer program/systems, Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to travel as needed to Hawaii and Japan
  • Ability to work on-call as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years Navy Ship experience with the assessment and repair of US Navy Ship HM&E systems.
  • Experience with the following shipboard equipment:
    • Electronic Cooling Systems
    • AC&R Systems
    • Electronic Dry Air Systems
    • Food Service (Electrical and Mechanical Systems)
    • Boat Davit & Handling Systems
    • Lube Oil Systems
    • CHT Systems
    • Fuel Oil Systems
    • Main Reduction Gears
    • Ventilation Systems
    • Minesweeping Cranes
    • QAWTDs, Scuttles, and Hatches
    • Potable Water Systems
    • MMGTG (Electrical & Mechanical)
    • Steering Systems

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent standing, sitting, walking, handling, feeling with hands, reaching with arms
  • Regular Communication (hearing and speaking)
  • Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting of heavy objects
  • Ability to go aboard ships, barges and other naval craft
  • Ability to move in narrow and restricted passageways, up/down steep and narrow ladders or stairways onboard ships
  • Ability to lift, carry and move objects up to 50 lbs. in weight
  • Ability to work in an industrial, shop environment.

Currently we are searching for a TSRA / Inspection and Survey (INSURV) support technician for a Part Time On Call (PTOC) position based in San Diego with travel to Hawaii and Japan. The Technician will be responsible for assessing the operational capability of the variety of shipboard combat and communications systems associated with U.S. Navy ships.  Specifically, we are seeking someone who understand CANES, UHF radios and beyond line-of-sight communications. Additional responsibilities include assessing combat and communications systems, recommending corrective actions, and assisting with the correction of identified discrepancies. Assigned duties will be performed onboard ships during scheduled assessments and inspections under the supervision of SWRMC TSRA and INSURV Assessment Coordinators during TSRA, INSURV events.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma

    • TAC APPS, GENSER Global Command and Control System-Maritime (GCCS-M)
    • EMI/WCAP/SEMCIP
    • Sound Powered Phones
