Capt. Thomas Mayhew is a true credit to the Navy Reserve as he marks his retirement with a generous donation to the Semper Fi Fund collected by his unit in lieu of a personal token. The ceremony took place at the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, September 25, 2013 at 2 p.m.
Capt. Mayhew, who is also an important part of the Power Ten, Inc. Team, assumed command of the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD) Reserve Unit in December of 2012. The unit provides support for emerging mission areas including the Irregular Warfare Technology office and provides uniformed personnel with engineering and aviation expertise not normally found on active duty or within the civilian workforce. Reservists in this unit have supported the rapid deployment of emerging unmanned aviation systems.
Upon his retirement, Capt. Mayhew wanted to do something more than receive a photo or shadowbox and asked his unit to help in raising money for a donation to the Semper Fi Fund. “These wonderful guys, many of whom have deployed with the Marines or supported Integrated Training Exercises (ITX) and Weapons Tactics Instruction (WTI) raised $1200,” said Mayhew.
“Power Ten didn’t find Tom by accident. His performance and reputation earned with his service as a Sailor with Marines in 3d MAW was impeccable, and was how we came to know Tom. His service first as a Soldier and then as a Sailor, coupled with his parallel civilian career, really sets him apart. We congratulate and, above all, thank Captain Tom Mayhew for his service to our great country on the occasion of his retirement,” said Russ Emons, President of Power Ten, Inc.
Power Ten, Inc. is proud to have Capt. Mayhew on our team and we congratulate him on a job well done!
