Happy 237th Birthday Marine Corps!
On November 10, 2012, Power Ten, Inc. joins the country in wishing the United States Marine Corps a Happy 237th Birthday. Appropriately founded in a tavern in 1775, the newly formed Marine Corps selected the Latin words “Semper Fidelis” meaning “Always Faithful” as their motto. Since that time, the Marine Corps has had a long and storied history that epitomizes the heart, dedication, and quality of its men and women who “signify all that is highest in military efficiency and soldierly virtue.” Also founded by Marines, we at Power Ten, Inc. believe our motto “Marines Serving Marines” illustrates both what makes us different and what drives us to provide products and services of quality and value to our customers. We are proud to say that the Power Ten Team has over 830 combined years of active duty service to the Marine Corps and 40 distinguished veterans ranging from Privates to General Officers.
At its inception, our country’s founding fathers knew that we must take the fight to our oppressors. As such, a committee of the Continental Congress met at Tun Tavern to draft a resolution calling for two battalions of Marines able to fight for independence at sea and onshore. The resolution was approved on November 10, 1775, officially forming the Continental Marines.
And today, as the Marine Corps winds down operations in Afghanistan and pivots back to the Pacific, we see a return to its amphibious roots. Known for being the “First to Fight,” Marines have readily adapted to serving as our nation’s first line of defense and to being most ready when the country is least ready. The Marine Corps prides itself on being ready to respond to “ev’ry clime and place” and ”in the air, on land and sea” and continues to do so in conjunction with our brothers-in-arms, the U.S. Navy. Epitomizing flexibility and adaptability, the Marines have always task-organized themselves for whatever mission they are called on to accomplish, while staying true to the timeless values and ethos of honor, courage, and commitment. As such, each year the Marine Corps marks November 10th with a celebration of the brave spirit that has compelled the countless men and women who serve our country as United States Marines and in doing so, honors the past while inspiring the future.
This year’s celebration again finds many Marines answering the Nation’s call, with distinction no matter the circumstances, as they have for the past 237 years. In the far reaches of the globe, Marines are adding new chapters to the legacy that was earned with sweat and blood on old battlefields. Just as previous generations of Marines shaped today’s Marine Corps, the deeds of today’s Marines are molding the Corps of tomorrow. The Marine Corps has never been stronger and all Americans are extremely proud of the magnificent performance and unwavering commitment to serve the Corps and country. For this we salute you.
